YOU'RE SO VEIN(y) !!! (thanks Will)
Hello ToiletTroubles.gov. How are you? I'm OK, thanks!
I was just thinking about the hit song "You're So Vain, You Probably Think This Song Is About You" by Carly Simon. (WHY??) It's main lyrics "You are so vain, you probably think this song is about you" is simply about someone who Carly Simon thinks is vain enough to think the song is about them. But the thing is, the song IS about them Don't they have a right to think the song is about them without seeming vain - just factual?! Am I right or right?
It's a lose lose situation for the person who the song is about!
-If they think it's about them (which it is) they're considered VAIN.
-If they DON'T think its about them then they're ignoring the truth and could be arguably in "denial of their vanity."
In conclusion, I do not think the person who this song is about is being VAIN - instead, I think CARLY SIMON is being vain for assuming that the person this song is about would hear this song and be like "Oh, I bet this song is about me" Yeahh who guessed THAT was coming?!
You could sit for hours dissecting this song and how complex it's lyrics are
(and then KILL YOURSELF!!)
PS. The "vain person" the song is about is believed to be Warren Beaty or some Watergate Scandal connected man named Mark Felt though the real answer is still a big mystery! Oh Carly, why do you do this to us?!
